White Cross Canada

GIVE TO WHITE CROSS CANADA

Among the many ways you can take part in the ministry of White Cross Canada, one of the efficient and effective ways is making a financial contribution.

There are 3 ways to do so:

1. E-transfer

Send an E-transfer to aba@nab.ca (Alberta Baptist Association) and note in the memo section that the fund is for White Cross Canada.

If you would like to receive an acknowledgement of the donation and tax receipt from us, please include your name and contact information for follow-up communications.

2. Cheque

Mail a cheque payable to Alberta Baptist Association (11525 23 Avenue NW Edmonton AB T6J 4T3) and write White Cross Canada in the memo section. If you would like to designate the donation to a certain fund, please attach a form instead of writing the designation on the cheque itself.

Please note: As designated projects become fully funded, any extra funds received will be used to fulfill the overall mandate of White Cross Canada.

3. Online Giving

Make a credit card payment through the online giving page. Please choose White Cross from the "to" drop-down menu.

If you are willing to give a smaller amount but on a monthly basis, this is the best method to automate the monthly giving.

Why do we need Your financial contributions?

The ministry of White Cross Canada is funded by donations.

From container shipments to day-to-day operations, the ministry of White Cross Canada's is supported by donations from individuals, groups, and churches across Canada. We do not receive regular income from the International Office or elsewhere to support the operation.

Our existence is a testimony of the Lord's provision to these donors and to us. Thank you for trusting in Him to meet your needs and sharing what you have to meet our & our partner's needs!

Not all churches can cover the cost sending materials they collected.

When we receive medical supplies and hospital supplies, we suggest $2/lb financial contribution to cover the cost of shipment. However, not all groups can raise enough funds to cover the cost beyond collecting supplies and preparing them.
When you donate financially, you are not only helping the needs of our partners but also the groups with small budgets to continue their important ministry.

Most medical equipment is donated without shipment cost covered.

In addition to groups with a small budget, there are many organizations and individuals who donate their equipment generously. Those pieces, however, typically come without shipment costs covered. In order for us to continue sending more medical equipment (such as hospital beds, surgical tools, and dental chairs), we need funds in addition to the suggested $2/lb donation from the churches that send hospital/medical supplies.

Your donations help us send items that are donated by organizations and individuals who are generously donating valuable items.

"Shouldn't they become independent?"

As we rely on financial contributions and continue to give to our partners in West Africa, some people are wondering if we are creating an unhealthy dependency between them and us. However, we are building this relationship as an "interdependency" to grow together. (Imagine our relationship as a healthy parent and adult-child relationship.)

If you are interested in more information about this, please read the article on pp. 18-19 in Onward Spring 2023 (Striving Together).

If you give, approximately...

The cost of sending 10 sets of

baby layettes (based on the weight).

When someone donates complete layettes to the Centre, you can donate $10 to get them delivered to Cameroon.

The cost of sending a banker's-box-size

box of 4" x 4" Absorbent Squares

(based on the weight).

Each square touches someone's life in clinics and hospitals, where they receive physical and spiritual quality care.

The cost of sending a box of hospital linens and gowns (based on the weight).

These items are integral to running the hospitals and clinics but hard to acquire enough quality materials for the local sewing room due to the increasing demand and supply shortage.

The cost of sending a box of

rolled bandages (based on the weight).

Approximately 1200-1300 rolls of bandages are packed in our sturdy 16 x 20x 22 box, which weighs 85 lbs on average.

The cost of sending a set of used hospital bed and mattress (based on the weight).

As our partner's network of medical institutions is expanding, hospital/nursing-home-quality beds are always in demand.

The cost of arranging shipment with our partners, loading a container, and preparing paperwork.  Many hours are donated by volunteer workers, in addition to the amount.
