Daycare Project

As Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services is developing its Daycare Centres for the growing needs of its staff, White Cross has a special project opportunity to collect toys and equipment for them. • Ekoumdoum Baptist Hospital Child Daycare Centre
  • Mbingo Baptist Hospital Child Daycare Centre

  • Mboppi Baptist Hospital Child Daycare Centre
  • Bonaberi Baptist Hospital Child Daycare Centre
  • Bafoussam Baptist Hospital Child Daycare Centre

Most Wanted Items

Updated February 2025

  1. Big foam interlocking mats for a gentle play surface (with no small pop-out parts)
  2. Washable toys for under 3 years old
  3. Pack ’n’ play cribs - the portable kind
  4. Baby seats/rockers/swings (Please see below for the details)
  5. Child development books (For knowing developmental milestones; NOT how to raise /feed/get them to sleep. The nursing staff will use these books as resources for training the Daycare workers.)

Daycare Project FAQs

Why is it only for children in ages 0-2 only?

In Cameroon “nursery school” starts by age 3, so no 3-year-olds are in the daycare. Most of the daycares do not have space to separate the children by age - they are all in one room.

How are the children separated into classes?

Most of the daycares do not have space to separate the children by age. They are all in one room.

Can we send books printed on fabric, instead of paper?

Books printed on fabric can usually be washed so those are okay.

Can toys/equipment that take batteries be sent if batteries are optional?

Yes, if the toys or equipment take batteries but are still useful without batteries, please remove the batteries and send them to us.

Should we send dolls with darker skin tones only?

Dark skin color dolls are good but washable bodies are most important.

Would metal toys be better than plastic toys for durability?

Metal toys can rust and their paint can chip in humid environments. Metal toys may also have small parts that are choking hazards. Many plastic toys are durable, and it is approved to send them to the Daycares.
